One of our readers captured these peaceful scenes around Stratford sub Castle just after sunrise today 21 December, the shortest day of the year, and has kindly shared them with these comments:
"I went for a walk just after sunrise and wondered if folks would appreciate seeing how beautiful our village looks on the shortest day?
The pockets of mist provided a lovely background to the foreground of the village.
The mist followed the route of the river as if it were travelling from the Woodford valley to the Cathedral itself.
Dog walkers, joggers and robin song accompanied the walk.
A most pleasant setting to make use of the limited daylight on the shortest day."

Ed: What a contrast to the drone footage released by English Heritage of the scene at Stonehenge, just 8 miles to our north!
