Cycle Routes that pass through Stratford sub Castle

King Alfred's Way is a 220 mile circular Long Distance Cycle Trail announced in August 2020 that starts and finishes in Winchester. After passing through Ford it runs to the east gate of Old Sarum at Phillips Lane, then turns right on Wiltshire Cycleway 45 to Shepherd's Corner and Keeper's Cottage. It is not yet way-marked in this area. Details - Cycling UK

National Cycle Network Route 45 runs for 219 miles from Salisbury to Chester. This is marked on the ground with signage and outside the village school and Dean's Farm, with milestones. The map shows the local section. More details - Sustrans .

The Wiltshire Cycleway is a circular route around the whole county, 160 miles in length. Section 7 runs from Salisbury to Amesbury and passes through the village. It is not marked on the ground.

The Golden Way is a local 7 mile circular ride and climbs from Stratford sub Castle to Old Sarum.

The Woodford Valley Circuit  is a 16 mile circular route starting at Old Sarum Car Park allowing cyclists to “explore some of Wiltshire’s finest villages, delight in the natural beauty of the River Avon and see the ancient archaeology of Old Sarum & Stonehenge”. Visit Wiltshire  Cycle Route 4

 

The Avon Valley Explorer in 28 miles is a “spectacular three-day circular navigation of South Wiltshire”.

 The Salisbury to Stonehenge Route along the Woodford Valley is promoted by Connecting Wiltshire

 

 The Woodford Woods – Old Sarum Loop from Laverstock is a 22 mile circular ride suggested by Komoot

 

 The Woodford Valley Loop is a 9 mile route suggested by the Salisbury Road and Mountain Cycle Club SRAMcc

 

 The Salisbury Home Cycle Route 1 is an easy 10.5 miles circular route suggested by bikemap
