Footbridge diversion leads to an interesting sculpture in progress
The footbridge over the Avon near Five Rivers Leisure was closed today whilst landscaping and other works were being completed by the Salisbury River Park contractors. A marked pedestrian diversion along Hulse Road lead to the interesting discovery of work in progress, a wooden sculpture of a bull. Recycled disused fence panels form most of its structure, to which small sections of milled Douglas Fir have been added. The artist working on it will paint it black before seeki

River Park Project - temporary fencing in place
Fencing has been erected alongside some of the River Park pathways. A sign explains that this is a temporary measure to allow the planted areas to become established. Latest News from the River Park Project
The good news is that no properties have been flooded during the recent weeks of abnormal rain and river levels. There has been some flooding to the playground on Fisherton Rec and to the cyclepath, both are which are being addressed by the project team. - read the details in the February 2026 Newsletter. River Park December Update

Newletter available to download below: Ed: If you take the Mill Lane route into Salisbury from Stratford sub Castle, the footpaths are quite muddy particularly at the access point to the 'old' boardwalk but after that the new boardwalks and footpaths are clear.
