Cllr Martin Smith, Wiltshire Cabinet Member for Highways has said: "Parking charges in Wiltshire have not changed since 2022, despite significant inflationary pressures during that time, so we feel that these proposals are fair and that they remain in line with charges in nearby authorities. No decision has been made on this, and we really do want to hear people's views. Please do take the time to take part in the consultation”.

The proposed changes include:

  • An average 20% rise in parking charges in 2026, followed by a further 5% rise in 2028;

  • Extending parking charges operating hours to 7am-7pm;

  • Aligning Sunday charges with weekday tariffs;

  • Reintroducing on street Sunday charging in Salisbury;

  • Adjusting season ticket and permit fees in line with any tariff changes.

A copy of the Press release announcing the changes is below or view on the Wiltshire Council website and follow the links. Also available as a PDF below the images.

Details may also be seen at Salisbury Library Monday 10am – 7pm, Tuesday, Friday 9am – 7pm, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday 9am – 5pm until 5th May 2026.
