"Stratford sub Castle

The flood invaded the church at Stratford sub Castle, the water rising through the floor.

In certain places the road was flooded to a depth of two or three feet, but there was not a large amount of inconvenience at houses in the parish. Hundreds of acres of meadowland have been under the water,  flood stretching almost without intermission far up the valley."
