The website has received a heads-up from local resident David Mills that four Little Egret were seen perched in the tree of a garden north of Mill Lane bridge on Tuesday 5 August.

David comments: "We are unsure whether these are a pair and two offspring, two pairs, or four isolated individuals, but it is in our opinion a rare sighting of these fascinating birds in the Avon in Stratford. I wonder if anyone else in the village has similar sightings?"

Over to our readers! Contributions to the website are always welcome.

Both of the photos on this webpage demonstrate the current low water levels of the river. Last month this solitary Little Egret was exploring one of the small island beds in the Avon by the new boardwalk - built as part of the Salisbury River Park Project.
