The fourth Wiltshire Council Local Transport Plan 2025 -2038 (LTP4) was endorsed at full council on 11 March 2025.

LTP4 sets out Wiltshire Council's strategic transport objectives, using a place-based approach that aligns with the Wiltshire Local Plan. It is designed to address the needs of three distinct areas: principal settlements, including Salisbury, Trowbridge, and Chippenham; market towns; and rural communities.

By tailoring the plan to these specific areas, the council can better respond to their unique transport challenges, recognising that the needs of rural residents differ from those in towns and cities. This approach also increases opportunities to secure additional government funding to enhance transport infrastructure across the county.

It has now been published online and can be viewed here: https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/localtransportplan

News from Wiltshire Council:

We’re updating our Local Transport Plan (LTP), which sets out our overall vision for how people will travel in Wiltshire from 2025 to 2038. We would like your feedback to help inform the strategy for transport across Wiltshire.

ED: The survey was available at the time this News post was published but has since closed.

Our current plan (LTP3) ends in 2026 and we are in the process of drafting our fourth edition, which will be known as Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4), covering the period 2025-2038 to set the direction for all transport in Wiltshire, including road safety, highway network management and enhancement, car parking, buses, rail, walking and wheeling, freight, electric vehicles and more. It will set out how the county’s existing transport infrastructure will be improved in the coming years.

In addition, to enable you to find out more about the consultation and to ask questions, you can sign up for the following information webinars:

  • Tuesday 3 December at 6pm

  • Monday 13 January at 6pm
