Updated 6 February

The barriers have been removed, Waters Road has been reopened and the diversion signs have been collected.

This has happened much earlier than had been expected and will enable bus routes to return to their official routes.

News from 27 January. Diversion signs have been put in place along Stratford Road as Waters Road is expected to be closed from today onwards.

Earlier News

SGN were working in Waters Road today (Thursday 23 January) with traffic able to filter through - except for buses for which special arrangments have been made.

The planned road closure and diversion is expected to operate from Monday 27 January.

Buses are not using Waters Road.

A change to the R12 Stratford sub Castle to Salisbury bus route has been published by Salisbury Reds - see image left. This morning the bus tracker app showed the R12 turning right at the Stratford Road/ Castle Road traffic lights then immediately left into Victoria Road, through to Moberly Road, Dorset Road, then joining the normal route at Cambridge Road.

A 'Heads-up' for traffic delays on Stratford Road around South Wilts School's start and finish times. All the school buses serving South Wiltshire Grammar School will be turning around at Hathaway Close. See below.

Original News post - the situation on 17 January.

Advanced warning of the road closure during Gas Maintenance works in Waters Road is a little premature. A phone call to WIltshire Council on 17 January determined that the closure is scheduled for 27 January, not the 20 January date displayed on the information board.

The originally published diversion route was queried as it involved a left turn from Stratford Road into Castle Road, currently not permitted as indicated by the no left turn sign at the traffic lights. Would it even be a possible manoeuvre for buses on the R4 and R12 routes?

Wiltshire Council Highways department re-checked the situation and a revised diversion route has now been released on OneNetwork showing a diversion route via Phillips Lane:
