It's a lovely sunny day around Stratford sub Castle and a local resident has sent in this image of a Muntjac spotted today, together with the following comment and link for further information about this species of deer:
"Spotted a muntjac buck this morning in Avon Valley Nature Reserve. It calmly crossed the path, looked directly at me, trotted up the incline, foraged around, looked at me again, had an itch then went into the shrubs.

The image has also been added to the Fauna Photo Album.
Earlier sighting of a roe deer on 27 May 2024
At 9.50 am on Bank Holiday Monday, the sight of a Roe deer walking slowly down the hedge-line towards the gate and public footpath in a Parsonage Farm field, disturbed a flock of sheep. Unaccustomed to the intruder, the sheep ran to the other side of the field but after a few minutes, the sheep returned to their previous positions to continue grazing.
