NIgel Afford has kindly offered to share his experiences of serving with "The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery" during the 1970s, for a fundraising talk organised by The Friends of St Lawrence Church in the Reading Room, Stratford Road SP1 3LL on Friday 28 February at 7.30 pm.
State occasions such as Coronations, Royal Birthdays and State Funerals are traditionally marked by the firing of gun salutes. The King’s Troop’s primary role is to conduct these amongst its other ceremonial duties.
We look forward to hearing some ‘behind the scenes’ anecdotes from Nigel’s career, illustrated by photographs. Horses may feature! There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Tickets are now on sale - please contact Rosemary Winson rosemary.winson@gmail.com or tel 01722 325183 to book your ticket. - £10 members, £15 non-members and includes a glass of wine or soft drink after the talk.
