William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke

William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke, c 1501-1570 (son of Richard who was an illegitimate son of another William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke). His first wife Anne Parr was sister of Henry VIII’s sixth wife Catherine Parr. Wilton Abbey was granted to him in 1544 after its dissolution and he and subsequent Earls of Pembroke at Wilton House built on the site of the Abbey and held extensive lands around Stratford sub Castle (and more widely in Wiltshire) for centuries.
