Changing the time of the church clock for GMT

This afternoon the one-handed clock at St Lawrence Church was stopped for an hour so that the clock dial on the tower will display the correct time in the morning when the congregation arrive for the

10 am GMT Parish Communion service.

How old is the clock? David James in a 2017 article about the clock said:

"The St Lawrence Church records of 1750 contain a bill from a Robert Wentworth for mending and cleaning the Church Clock at Stratford at a cost of 12 shillings. The records also have an entry for 1776 showing that 15 shillings had been spent for work on a dial."

You can read David's complete article here history of the St Lawrence Church clock.

and some additional information that was added to the webpage after the current dial was installed in May 2019 and the auto-winder mechanism added in 2020.
