The Guild's next meeting is on Wednesday 8 October starting at 7.30 pm in the Reading Room, Stratford Road SP1 3LL.

John Jameson-Davis, an acknowledged expert in handwriting and document examining, will give a fascinating and entertaining talk on forensic handwriting examination to illustrate the trail of clues that lie within pen strokes. The speaker has provided the following information:

About The Talk...

"My approach is to educate and entertain. I have a jolly sense of humour and enjoy making my audiences laugh as they learn about a serious subject. As a performer on stage (mainly comedy roles in Shakespeare), I enjoy entertaining and bring a light touch to my talks.

Using a projector to illustrate, I explain the basic principles of examining Questioned Signatures (those which have been challenged or doubted for some reason, perhaps on a Will or other document).

I enjoy entertaining my audiences by leading them through the twists and turns of forensic handwriting examination in The Detection of Forged Signatures."

Guild Meetings are held in the Reading Room, Stratford Road SP1 3LL (opposite St Lawrence Church) starting at 7.30 pm and end about 9.00 pm - except for January and February when the meetings will be in the afternoon starting at 2 pm.

After the talks there is tea or coffee, biscuits and time for a chat. It’s a great way to meet up with your neighbours, and for those new to the village, to make new friends.   The Annual subscription is £15, visitors £5 per meeting and includes refreshments.

Here are the dates for the Guild's programme for the 2025-26 season
