Salisbury bypass petition

Following the publicity generated by the recent 'People Friendly' scheme in Salisbury (now suspended), Dr Mark McClelland who represents Stratford & St Francis ward on Salisbury City Council, has set up a petition to Highways England urging the Agency to consider a bypass for Salisbury.

"Under the Road Investment Strategy 2 (RIS2), Highways England has been tasked with carrying out a major strategic study to improve road connections between the south coast and the M4. As part of that, a bypass for Salisbury is essential to keep the traffic moving on the A36 and to improve the quality of life for local residents - reducing congestion and boosting air quality.

We urge the Department for Transport and Highways England to recognise the scale of the problem, take decisive action, and build a bypass for Salisbury."
