Frosty start to May Day

May Day is a traditional day for celebration and Morris Dancers over the country get out and dance at dawn. Our local side, Sarum Morris, have danced at Old Sarum each year, with the kind permission of English Heritage. Last year our own little tradition was interrupted by Covid and this year we decided we were unable to meet all the social distancing requirements in our dancing, but we did get together and play some Morris tunes to welcome up the sun. The mist in the valleys gave everything a magical feeling and the sun coming up over the mist was spectacular. A very special way to welcome in May, but my fingers did get numb with the cold.
