This month the Stratford sub Castle village website had a funding dilemma. Since its original launch in 2005, this not-for-profit community website has been funded by the proceeds of quiz nights and raffles and, of late, by ourselves.
Two years’ ago we invested in sophisticated software that enabled us to alter the website’s structure and to try out some new ideas including hosting the Reading Room bookings calendar. We’re always happy to receive suggestions or comments about the content our users would like to see included.
In mid-July a bill to cover 2 years’ worth of software and site hosting is due for payment. Given the restrictions of ‘Lockdown’ we have been unable to plan any future fundraising. So we approached the St Lawrence PCC and other village organisations with a request to consider making an annual donation to reflect their presence on the website and place it on a firmer financial footing. There are no other costs - our own time and personal on-line connections are given freely to this project.
We are extremely grateful for the generous responses we’ve received which will ensure that our Community website can continue to:
publish local news, defibrillator rota, rubbish collection dates, planning applications, walk details, contact details for groups, and other useful local information;
host the booking calendar for the Reading Room;
expand our extensive local history section;
host photo albums of images sent in by our readers;
and in due course, publicise local events when they re-start.
So thank you to the PCC and to these village clubs - Stratford Garden Club, Stratford Guild, Local History Group.
