"Good afternoon Everyone
Today I completed my 98th mile. I will keep the remaining mile to be completed until the airfield is fully reopened and "99" will be completed in front of Britannia XM 496 ( perhaps repainted and looking very much the aircraft I flew last in February 1966).
My heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of you who helped me in my goal to preserve "The Old Lady"- no , not my wife!!
As I indicated recently, I feel I should now help the RAF Charities and to that end I have committed to walking a further 99 miles- only this time without the need to complete the task as quickly as possible.
I will continue to keep you all updated with my progress both in terms of distance and funds raised Again, my sincere thanks to you all

Brian Weatherley has now completed 81.5 miles of his 99 miles goal. He has told the website that any monies raised that exceed his £5000 target to save Britannia, will be donated to RAF welfare charities.
Walking along Stratford Road can be hazardous - please allow plenty of space for Brian to pass you along the pavement and drivers, please slow down!

"As some of you will know already, I am trying to save the last globally full-bodied Bristol Britannia built for the Royal Air Force.
I first flew the Britannia in 1959 when on 99 Squadron and this particular aircraft last in 1966. So she is very close to my heart. But Covid 19 has cut-off our almost sole source of funds, namely Visitor voluntary donations, as Cotswold Airport has been closed since March. As such, planned repainting in the next two months is in severe jeopardy and Funds are needed urgently.
Therefore, I have decided to 'Walk the Squadron' i.e. 99 miles to raise an initial £5,000 to cover the immediate costs of aircraft cleaning, preparation and painting.
I am using the fundraiser website GoFund Me and account "Walk The Squadron 99"
To date I have raised £1923 and walked 13 and a half miles. Any help you might wish to give my Appeal would be most welcome."
