On 3rd August 2014 we commemorated the start of WW I with a service and re-dedication of our War Memorial. This year we have had the names of the fallen from our village engraved on stone and set into the base of the Memorial. This was funded by public subscription and a grant from the Salisbury Area Board of Wiltshire Council. The afternoon finished with refreshments in the Reading Room and displays of the projects that the Friends of St Lawrence have funded over the years and the outcome of research undertaken on the lives of the men listed on the Memoriual. On the next day, in conjunction with the rest of the country, all but one of the lights were turned out at 10pm and we finish with photos taken of the church at this time. The Friends of St Lawrence will be providing a full report on the event in their next Newsletter due out towards the end of September.
