The Church plays a big part in the village and its picturesque setting means it plays host to many functions, especially weddings and christenings, in addition to its normal services.
The Parochial Church Council oversees the running of the church and sub-committees are responsible for The Reading Room (Village Hall), Church Fabric and Charitable Giving. The Friends of St Lawrence has been set up to ensure that funds are available to maintain this important village asset
In 2002 English Heritage made St Lawrence, St Thomas's and the Cathedral, the only churches in Salisbury with Grade 1 listed Building status.
Recently the memorial cross has been cleaned and the names of the fallen from the village have been added to it. The lives of these men has been researched as part of the commemmoration of the outbreak of WW1 and you can see details of their service by clicking here.
St Lawrence churchyard also contains a number of Commonwealth War Graves. We are currently researching the lives of the men and women buried here and details of this work can be found by clicking here.
