The paintings you can access from this page have been provided by English Heritage. We are fortunate to have them because they are not available on their own web site (as of October 2013) and they have been scanned in specially for us. The artist, Peter Dunn, works for English Heritage and the paintings have been used on some of the information boards at Old Sarum. Peter came to Salisbury Museum in late 2003 to show us some of his work depicting archaeological sites in the region. I found them especially interesting and asked him if we could use some of them in our planned web site.He was supportive and when I asked permission from the English Heritage Photo Library they were most helpful. Peter bases his work firmly on the archaeological evidence available. He debates his interpretations with his colleagues and amends them until they are satisfied that he has not introduced anything that conflicts with the evidence currently available. The interpretive notes I have provided with the pictures are my own and any errors are not the responsibility of English Heritage. All pictures are copyright of the English Heritage Photo Library.
