Full Peal of Bells

13 Jun 2016 (All day)
By Jim Platt

A full peal of bells will be rung on Tuesday morning, the 14th June, at St Lawrence Church, in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday. A full peal takes about three hours so it will start at 10.00am and finish at about 1pm. To count as a peal the six ringers will ring continuously without any breaks and without any mistakes. You can well imagine the concentration required. There will no-one from our local team taking part but the ringers are all from the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers (founded in 1872) and will include the current Master of the Guild, Robert Wellan.

For the technically minded the method will be two extents each of Beverley, Surfleet and Cambridge and one of Plain Bob.
