Old Sarum in Saxon times

We are grateful to Alex Langlands (University of Swansea) for his permission to host his illustrated paper entitled 'Placing the Burh in Searobyrg', here on the Stratford sub Castle Village Website.

Alex makes a case for an Anglo-Saxon burh abutting the ramparts of Old Sarum, immediately to the south-west.

Alex is involved with the Old Sarum Landscapes Research Project set up by the University of Southampton and was very much 'hands on' during the Summer Field School held in Stratford sub Castle in July 2017.
