St Lawrence, Stratford sub Castle band of Bellringers was formed in 1998 as a consequence of the installation of the new ring of six bells in the church. A number of villagers had learned to ring at St. Thomas` in Salisbury in preparation for "Ringing in the Millennium".
The Society meets in the Reading Room, in the village, at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month – September to November and January to June. The Society is open to everyone with an interest in gardens, plants and gardening and is especially useful if you are a new gardener or have just moved into the area. We have a good programme of speakers and visits throughout the year and new members and visitors are most welcome. Annual membership is £10 and a charge of £2.00 per meeting is made for visitors. Meetings are relaxed and friendly with tea/coffee and biscuits following the speaker.
The Stratford Guild is a friendly group of men and women who get together on the second Wednesday of each month from September through to June, with the aim of being informative and entertaining whilst promoting a sense of community spirit.
People of all ages (12 upwards) are needed to learn to ring St Lawrence's bells.
