Stratford sub Castle Guild is pleased to announce that their project for a gift to the village of a Noticeboard is now complete.

The solid oak wood and cedar shingles were generously donated by Timbersource Ltd, whose owner Ashley Kemp was a former member of the community. During August, two Guild members, Steve Mayall and Bob Winson, set about cutting the wood to size and constructing the Noticeboard then, with the assistance of two other members, erected it outside the Reading Room on Stratford Road, (opposite St Lawrence church,) in time for the new Guild season, which started on Wednesday evening 14th September.

The Village Noticeboard was officially opened in the presence of Guild members, by Mrs Yvonne Fox, a long standing resident and Guild member, who celebrated her 100th birthday in May. The Guild Committee, plus Steve, Bob and Ashley, were joined by Councillor Mary Douglas and Councillor John Walsh, to celebrate this special occasion. A small gallery of photos of the event can be seen here.

The village Noticeboard is for use by our community to display notices of interest about a specific event taking place within the village.

Anyone wishing to display a notice, or requiring further information should contact

We hope that you will make good use of the Noticeboard and, that it helps bring the community closer together by being able to publicise local events (free of charge) for people to get involved in.
